It Could Be Different
When we talk about Jazz, we are talking about experimenters. Once the experimenting stops, the music gets stagnant. David Ornette Cherry is an experimenter, and with his new cd “IT COULD BE DIFFERENT”, he brings his keyboard and soundscape magic to a fresh range of grooves and compositions, featuring the multi-talented Cherry Family along with some of his collaborators in the jazz and world music scene.

This project feartures Neneh Cherry doing spoken word vocals on David’s poetry piece, “FREEDOM IN MUSIC,” Don Cherry on trumpet with a remix of “BIRDBOY,” Eagle-Eye Cherry on wood flute with an African based soundscape in “WALKING COMPANY,” Jan Cherry on violin, “WALK IN DIGNITY,” Christian Cherry rapping over David’s “B SHARP B NATURAL.”

Two live recordings feature Expressions of Energy, David’s Portland, Oregon group — Carlton Jackson on drums and string soundscape, Michael York on tenor sax, Justin Durrie on bass in a beautiful ballad, “ONE DROP TO VICTORY.” The LA-based Cherry Jam Band’s TRIBUTE TO THE JB’S features Charles E. Evans Jr. on bass, Sean Daniel on drums, Curtis Storey on trumpet, Michael Lee on sax, James Davis on guitar. “YOU HAVE TO DIG IT TO DIG IT”!!!!
